During their short time together The Hiram Key have been compared to Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, Bauhaus, The Who, The Sisters of Mercy, The Bolshoi and even David Bowie. Sound on Sound Magazine describes the sound as 'firmly rooted in the style of Bauhaus and The Cure'.
It would seem that the mainstream music press can't quite put their finger on the sound, which has seen the band's first self released album go into 3 pressings in 2 months before being signed to German label Echozone. This is the fully remastered release of Amerikafka on Echozone (Sony) from 2011. The HK got wide press coverage after their German tour opening for Ikon in the summer of 2011, which culminated in an appearance on a major stage at WGT 2011.
Fronted by Ex-Nosferatu vocalist and members of 90's 'Goth Rock outfit' Killing Miranda The HK have been called 'a Goth Super-group'.
